Osirus Mitchell, known as "Bam Bam" by his grandmother because of his penchant for throwing and breaking things as a youth, contributed in nine games as a redshirt freshman in 2017 (5-51-10.2). Mitchell led MSU in receptions and tied for the team lead in touchdowns (26-427-16.4, four TDs) as a 13-game starter his sophomore year. He led the Bulldogs in receiving yards and touchdowns as a junior in 2019, catching 29 passes for 430 yards (14.8 per) and six scores in 13 games (11 starts). He started six of 11 contests in 2020 but still led the Bulldogs with four receiving touchdowns (47-505-10.7). -- by Chad Reuter Overview Mitchell's ability to win throws with his catch radius might be appealing, but his below-average hands and difficulty finding space underneath are concerns. He's so long and leggy that getting off press will be a problem, and most of his translatable success will come on the move on crossing routes or down the field on jump-ball throws. He needs better play strength to work against NFL cornerbacks on all three levels. Strengths Exceptional length with 34 3/8-inch arms and 82 1/4-inch wingspan. Big hands pair with ridiculous catch radius. Explosive hips to leap and climb the ladder. Quarterback can toss it up high and he will go get it. Cleaned up some of his drops over the last two seasons. Very poised as ball-tracker watching it over his shoulder. Stride length creates issues for cornerbacks on crossers. Weaknesses Long legs prevent quick release into route. Needs harder stutter-step to sell double moves. Below average top-end speed. Not a natural, fluid pass catcher. Gives early glance to the direction of his breaks. Unable to drop hips and cut quickly. Doesn't go into heavy traffic with great conviction. Allows coverage to play through him on the way to the football.
