Trevon Diggs displays lockdown ability with Cowboys While it might be tough to make an official ruling on who truly had the best draft class this year, there’s plenty of support behind the class that the Dallas Cowboys put together in the 2020 NFL Draft. Oklahoma star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb highlighted the class, of course, but plenty of other talent made up a strong class. The Lamb pick was followed by an equally strong pick in Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. The brother an NFL wide receiver, Stefon, Diggs had a chance to be in the discussion as an early second-round pick or maybe even a late first-round pick. But he fell to the Cowboys in the second round and it looks like it could be a pick that pays off big. In a video from practiced shared by the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, Diggs can be seen defending former Ohio State wide receiver Noah Brown. As you can see in the video, Diggs isn’t ready to give any room to anyone on the field this year. Along with Lamb and Diggs, the Cowboys built a rather strong NFL Draft in 2020. They also strengthed the defensive line by taking Oklahoma defensive tackle Neville Gallimore. ESPN Radio host Trey Wingo spoke to DallasCowboys.com and explained just how much he loved the Cowboys’ draft, calling the Diggs selection, “remarkable.” “They weren’t expecting CeeDee to be there,” Wingo said. “And if he was sixth on their board — I think he was sixth on their pre-draft board — and you have him at 17, you’ve got to take him. Obviously, a lot of people thought that was a luxury item, but you now have Michael Gallup, Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb, which is an unbelievable trio of wide receivers. And then to still have Diggs on the board when you go in the second round, getting him was remarkable. “In any scenario would you have said to a Cowboys fan, ‘You’re going to get Diggs and you’re going to get CeeDee Lamb in the first round.’ They’d be like, ‘Oh, yeah right.’ They get those two and quite frankly, I liked a lot of the other picks as well, especially the kid Neville Gallimore out of Oklahoma. I thought that was a steal where they got him.” Diggs, the brother of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, is looking like he could become an elite defensive back in the NFL. He recorded 37 total tackles, three interceptions and eight pass deflections for the Crimson Tide in 2019, on his way to being a First Team All-American and First Team All-SEC pick. Diggs joins a Cowboys franchise that is currently undergoing a massive overhaul after the firing of head coach Jason Garrett.
