By the time it was all said and done, they left a fanbase normally fractured into a dozen factions all singing the praises of the front office and scouting department. Dallas trusted their board, stayed put through the first two days, and then found extreme value in addressing almost all of their major holes. In the end, the haul brought their offense to another level and still shored up a defense that entered the weekend as the weaker of the two units. Overall, it’s hard to give the club, Will McClay, Stephen Jones and new head coach Mike McCarthy anything but an A grade. The real value of a draft isn’t known until Year 3, but as far as instant gratification goes, it’s hard to remember a time when fans and local media members were patting backs in unison. Even the outstanding draft class of 2016 had dissenters, as there was a large contingent who wanted the No. 4 pick to be spent on Jalen Ramsey instead of Ezekiel Elliott. This time, there were only a very small minority who found something to complain about.
